Preparation and X-ray crystallographic characterisation of the trititanate [Ti3O(µ-OPri)3(OPri)4 {Me2C(O)CH[double bond, length as m-dash]C(O)CH2C(O)Me2 }], a reaction product of [Ti(OPri)4] and propan-2-one

Abstract

Reaction of Ti(OPr i ) 4 with propan-2-one, under initially anhydrous conditions, yields a colourless moisture-sensitive crystalline product which is structurally identified as the trinuclear oxoalkoxide [Ti 3 O{µ-OPr i ) 3 (OPr i ) 4 {Me 2 C(O)CH[double bond, length as m-dash]C(O)CH 2 C(O)Me 2 }] containing a coordinated C 9 ligand derived from the condensation of propan-2-one.
