What are the reacting species in the oxidation of bisulfite by hydrogen peroxide in water clusters?

Abstract

Ab initio calculations suggest that in the oxidation of HSO 3 - to sulfuric acid by H 2 O 2 under acid conditions, SO 2 and not HSO 3 - , is the reacting species, a result relevant to modelling the formation of acid rain.
