Hydrolysis of an iridium–methyl bond, formation of trans-[Ir(CO)(OH)L2] from trans-[Ir(CO)MeL2] [L = PPh2(m-C6H4SO3Na), PPh2(m-C6H4SO3K) or P(C6H4SO3Na)3] upon dissolving in water

Abstract

The synthesis, characterization and rapid hydrolysis of trans-[Ir(CO)MeL 2 ] (L = a water-soluble phosphine) to trans-[Ir(CO)(OH)L 2 ] and CH 4 are reported.
