Synthesis and isolation of an all-carbon tetraanion; a discrete C604- fulleride salt

Abstract

The highly reduced, all-carbon tetraanion, C 60 4- , earlier identified as a discrete ion in solution by electrochemical and spectroscopic methods, can be synthesized and isolated as an analytically pure, sodium cryptand salt.
