Highly luminescent neutral cis-dicyano osmium(ii) complexes

Abstract

Two highly luminescent neutral cis-dicyanoosmium(II) complexes are prepared by photoinduced oxygen atom transfer reactions of trans-[OsO 2 (CN) 2 (dpphen)] with PPh 3 and Me 2 SO; their MLCT excited states are emissive with long lifetimes (0.20–1.99 µs) and high quantum yields [(40–1.8) ×10 - 2 ] and the emission maxima show pronounced solvatochromism.
