One- and two-dimensional NMR study of complexation of ursodeoxycholic acid with β-cyclodextrin

Abstract

The interaction of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) is investigated through one- and two-dimensional (ROESY) NMR spectroscopy. The relative orientation of host and guest is unequivocally established: the aliphatic side chain of UDCA enters the torus of β-CD on the side of the secondary hydroxy groups.
