Investigation of the stability of the hexagonal–cubic born nitride prism interface

Abstract

The stability of the hexagonal–cubic boron nitride prism plane interface has been investigated using a density-functional based tight-binding approach. The results for the interface energy and structure support recent experimental findings that hexagonal layered BN may play an important role in the homoepitaxial nucleation of cubic BN films.
