Build-up of an Al4P6Li4 cage from an Al4N4 cubane: synthesis and structure of [Li(OC4H8)]4[{(AlMe)[µ-P(C6H11)]}2{µ-P(C6H11)}]2·C6H5Me

Abstract

The acid–base reaction of the AlIII imido cubane [AlMe(Nmes)]4(mes = 2,4,6-Me3C6H2) with Li[PH(C6H11)] yielded the heterobimetallic cage complex [Li(OC4H8)]4[{(AlMe)[µ-P(C6H11)]}2{µ-P(C6H11)}]2·C6H5Me, the metallacyclic tetraanion of which is the first example of an AlIII phosphinidine anion.
