Abstract

Methyl (3R,5R)-5-benzyloxy-7-([1,3]dithian-2-yl)-3-hydroxyheptanoate (+)-7 has been prepared from 8-oxabicyclo[3.2.1]oct-6-en-3-one 1 in 7 steps and 40% overall yield.
