Complete metal-mediated reduction of the triple bond of a phosphaalkyne: X-ray structure of [Ru(PHFCH2But)Cl(CO)(CNC6H3Me2-2,6)(PPh3)2]BF4·CH2Cl2

Abstract

The reaction of [Ru(P[double bond, length half m-dash]CHBut)Cl(CO)(CNC6H3Me2-2,6)(PPh3)2] with HBF4 provides, rapidly and reversibly, the phosphaalkene complex [Ru(HP[double bond, length half m-dash]CHBut)Cl(CO)(CNC6H3Me2-2,6)(PPh3)2]+ which is converted by K[HF2] or [NBun4] F to the structurally characterised fluorophosphine complex [Ru(PHFCH2But)Cl(CO)(CNC6H3Me2-2,6)(PPh3)2]+.
