Lucigenin immobilized on silicon oxides as a solid-phase chemiluminescent reagent
Abstract
The adsorption of an effective chemiluminescent reagent lucigenin(bis-N-methylacridinium nitrate) on different silica oxides was investigated. Adsorption of lucigenin from aqueous solutions onto non-functionalized silica gel and silpearl was found to be quick, quantitative and strong. These lucigenin-modified silicon oxide compounds were tested as potential solid-phase chemiluminescent reagents. It was found that this reagent function was stable for more then 200 analyses at a rate of 120 tests per hour. The solid-phase lucigenin reagent is irreversible but can be easily regenerated. It was applied to the flow determination of vanadium(IV) and iron(II) with detection limits of 0.7 and 0.8 µg l–1, which are ten times more sensitive than for a closed system.
