Simultaneous determination of paracetamol, aspirin and caffeine in tablet formulations using factor analysis

Abstract

A factor analysis method has been applied to the determination of paracetamol, aspirin and caffeine in analgesic tablets, by UV spectroscopy without prior separation. Using appropriate synthetic calibration solutions, the qualitative composition of the tablets is confirmed and quantitative results using principal components regression are in good agreement with “declared” values.
