Reflectance spectrophotometry of plasticized membranes for the design of fast optical chemosensors

Abstract

The development of chemosensors based on plasticized PVC membranes utilizing reflectance spectrophotometric detection is discussed. The principles behind PVC membrane chemosensors are described. An example is presented of the application of such a sensor to the determination of copper. A linear calibration graph is obtained for 2 × 10–5–2 × 10–3 mol dm–3 Cu.
