7,7-dioxo-14-oxa-7λ6-thiadibenzo[a,j]anthracene-2,12-disulfonic acid is synthesized from α-tetralone and fuming sulfuric acid. By prolonged treatment, other related polysulfonated compounds are obtained. The course of the reaction has been followed by isolation or detection of intermediates.
