Synthesis of the 1,4-diazepan-2-one moiety of liposidomycins

Abstract

The two stereoisomers 12 and 16 of l, 4-dimethyl-l, 4-diazepan-2-one, a central feature of liposidomycins, have been synthesized starting from L-ascorbic acid and sarcosine.
