Preparation and structure of Nd2Sr1.5Ce0.5Cu2O6BO3: a 1222 phase containing a borate group as a connecting element

Abstract

Single-phase samples of Nd2Sr1.5Ce0.5Cu2O6BO3 have been prepared by optimizing compositions and sintring temperatures. The cell parameters a= 3.8974(1)Å and c= 26.6493(3)Å have been obtained from indexing the X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of the samples. The structure refined from the XRD pattern showed that the compound belongs to the 1222 family of layered cuprates. The BO3 anion groups, acting as the connecting elements, occupy completely the sites between the CuO2 layers in the structure.
