Synthesis and characterization of some mixed alkyl–carbamates of zinc or cadmium: crystal structures of [Zn4Me2(O2CNEt2)6] and [Zn4Me4(O2CNEt2)4]

Abstract

Some mixed alkyl–carbamates of formula [M4R2(O2CNEt2)6](M = Zn, R = Me or Et; M = Cd, R = Me) have been synthesized and characterized. The single-crystal structure of [Zn4Me2(O2CNEt2)6] consists of an unusual tetranuclear molecule with a plane of zinc atoms. The compound [Zn4Me4(O2CNEt2)4] has also been prepared. Its structure is based on an approximately tetrahedral arrangement of zinc atoms.
