Functionalization of technetium complexes to make them active in vivo

Abstract

In order to obtain efficient access to novel technetium and rhenium complexes in radiotracer design, the principle of preparing mixed-ligand complexes in which small-sized chelate units are bound to biologically relevant substituents was applied to thioglucose and thiocholesterol as substituents. Complexes of rhenium(V) of the formula [ReO(SSS)(SR)](HSSSH = tridentate dithiol HSCH2CH2SCH2CH2SH; RSH = 1-thio-β-D-glucose and cholest-5-en-3β-thiol) were prepared and structurally characterized.
