Volatilization of refractory elements as 8-hydroxyquinolinate complexes for sample introduction in inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry

Abstract

A novel sample introduction method, based on the volatilization of 8-hydroxyquinolinate complexes, was proposed for the inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometric determination of refractory elements B, Cr, Nb, V and Zr. The 8-hydroxyquinolinate complexes of these refractory elements were found to be vaporized at a temperature even lower than 500 °C in the presence of 8-hydroxyquinoline. Detection limits at the sub-nanogram level were obtained for these elements.
