Simultaneous determination of primary and secondary aliphatic alcohols by reversed-phase ion-pair chromatography

Abstract

A mixture of eleven primary and secondary alcohols was separated by reversed-phase ion-pair chromatography with gradient elution after in situ derivatization to dithiocarbonates (xanthates) in a carbon disulfide–aqueous sodium hydroxide two-phase system under phase-transfer catalytic conditions.
