Spectrophotometric analysis of uranyl as its 4-sulfonic calix[6]arene complex

Abstract

The ligand 4-sulfonic calix[6]arene can be used to complex UO22+ from sophisticated aqueous solutions and the absorption spectrum at 449 nm permits analysis down to parts per million levels, even in the presence of competing ions. A method for such analyses is reported.
