Studies in extraction of metals with 4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazonopicolinaldehyde

Abstract

4-Phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazonopicolinaldehyde (PAPT) came to our attention as a possible analytical reagent for some metals. This complex gives yellow coloured reactions with cadmium(II) and other ions. Extraction of cadmium(II), cobalt(II), copper(II), manganese(II), mercury(II), nickel(II), palladium(II) and zinc(II) from chloroform with PAPT has been studied.
