Membrane introduction–ion trap mass spectrometry for the determination of volatile organics in aqueous effluents

Abstract

A membrane interface fitted to an ion trap mass spectrometer has been used to detect and quantify volatile organic compounds present in aqueous samples at low ppbv levels. Alternate electron chemical ionization and tandem mass spectrometric scan routines were applied to the analysis of aqueous effluent samples.
