Syntheses of 11α-(3-carboxypropanoyloxy)-1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 and 11α(4-carboxybutanoyloxy)-1α,25-dihydroxyvitarnin D3: novel haptenic derivatives for production of highly specific antibodies to 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D31

Abstract

The measurement of serum/plasma levels of 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D31a is important for the diagnosis of diseases influencing vitamin D metabolism. To obtain antibodies to the metabolite 1a which are highly specific and useful for development of immunoassays, two novel haptenic derivatives, 11α-(3-carboxypropanoyloxy)-1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D32a and 11α-(4-carboxybutanoyloxy)-1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D32b were synthesized each in 19 steps from a suitably protected derivative (3) of 11α,25-dihydroxycholesterol.
