A convergent synthesis of extended aryl ester dendrimers

Abstract

A convergent synthesis of aryl ester dendrimers with flexible spacer units via a series of ‘dendron wedges’ of increasing size is described. The development of a high yield iterative protection/deprotection scheme for phenolic groups as acetates, in the presence of aryl esters, enables dendrimers to be assembled using this approach.
