Electric-field optical activity, Rayleigh optical activity and the measurement of superpositions of chiral amplitudes

Abstract

Superpositions of chiral amplitudes may be prepared by phase-locked pairs of radiation pulses. The observation of these coherences by parity-sensitive measurements is discussed. More complicated chiral superpositions are also introduced, further generalizing the notion of chirality.
