Hexacapped mixed-metal cubic [M8S6] clusters. Formation and structures of [Fe6Ni2S6I6(PMePh2)2]2– and [Fe4Ni4S6I4(PMePh2)4]

Abstract

On a novel synthetic pathway to mixed-metal [M8S6] clusters the compounds [PhCH2NEt3]2[Fe6Ni2S6I6(PMePh2)2] and [Fe4Ni4S6I4(PMePh2)4] were isolated and characterised by single-crystal X-ray crystallography.
