A new synthetic route to non-K and bay region arene oxide metabolites from cis-diols

Abstract

Arene oxides of naphthalene, quinoline, triphenylene, benzo[e]pyrene, and dibenz[a,c]anthracene have been synthesised in enantiopure (1ac) or racemic form (1df), free from oxepine isomers (3df) from cis-diol precursors (7af)via chloroacetate (9af) or dimesylate (13a) intermediates.
