Stepwise formation of chiral clusters viaσ3, λ4-phosphanediyl compounds of type (R)(η1-C5Me5)P[double bond, length half m-dash]MLn

Abstract

The chiral cluster (2,4,6-But3C6H2O)[graphic omitted]n(CO)46 has been synthesized stepwise from (R)(η1-C5Me5)P[double bond, length half m-dash]Mn(CO)41(R = 2,4,6-But3C6H2O) and Fe2(CO)92; the rearrangement of η2-{(R)(η1C5Me5)P[double bond, length half m-dash]Mn(CO)4}Fe(CO)43 to (R)[(η5-C5Me5)Fe(CO)2]P[double bond, length half m-dash]Mn(CO)44 proves to be the decisive step in this synthesis; the X-ray structure analysis of 4 and 6 are reported.
