Evidence for the formation of strongly bound molecular CO2 species on a polycrystalline silver catalyst
Abstract
In situ FT-IR spectroscopy has been used to identify for the first time an unusually stable molecular CO2 species at ca. 2337 cm–1 on a polycrystalline silver catalyst; it is proposed that adsorption occurred at silver sites modified by the presence of subsurface oxygen species, which were located in the vicinity of grain boundary defects.
