Molecular recognition of nucleoside bases by a metal complex. A novel bifunctionality with implications for metallo–drug design

Abstract

The crystal and molecular structure of the co-complex of bis(dithiobiureto)nickel(II) with uracil is reported and shows that ‘base-pairing’ is achieved via triple hydrogen bonding between the transition metal complex and the nucleoside base.
