Direct and rapid determination of potassium in standard solid glasses by excimer laser ablation plasma atomic emission spectrometry

Abstract

A rapid, direct, and sensitive method for the determination of potassium in solid glasses based on excimer laser ablation atomic emission spectrometry (LA-AES) has been developed. This technique allows the direct detection of 0.13 µg g–1 of potassium in solid glass without sample preparation. Results show that the excimer LA-AES system can provide a precision of ±10% or better, and a linear response up to at least 461 µg g–1.
