Determination of cimetidine in pure form and in dosage forms using N,N-dibromodimethylhydantoin

Abstract

A titrimetric method, with N,N-dibromodimethylhydantoin as reagent, has been developed for the determination of cimetidine in pure form and in dosage forms. It is a simple, direct titration method using amaranth as indicator. The method is simpler than, and superior to, the existing methods for this purpose.
