Studies on macrocyclic diterpenoids. Part 10. First total synthesis of (±)-isosarcophytol-A

The first total synthesis of (±)-isosarcophytol-A, a marine natural cembronoid, has been achieved in a seven-step synthesis starting from E,E-farnesyl acetate. A titanium-induced dicarbonyl macrocyclization is the key step.
