Abstract

2-[Bis(trimethylsilyl)amido]-1,3.2-diazaphospholidine, [N,N′-(CH2NMe)2]P[N(SiMe3)2]1, has been synthesised from [N,N′-(CH2NMe)2]PCl and Li[N(SiMe3)2]. The activity of 1 as a phosphonylating agent is demonstrated by its ability to undergo the Abramov reaction with aldehydes.
