Relative stability of micellar forms

Abstract

Calculations of the elastic bending energy of seven different forms of amphiphilic micelles have been performed in order to evaluate their relative stability over a wide range of micellar sizes. The micellar forms were studied on the basis of their geometrical properties. The Hyde phenomenological model for calculating the bending energy was adopted. The advantages of the Hyde model over the Helfrich one are discussed.
