Theoretical analysis for a second-order ECE process at a rotating-disc electrode

Abstract

Approximate analytical expressions are derived for the limiting current at the rotating-disc electrode for the ECE mechanism when the chemical step is irreversible. Four cases are identified corresponding to both pseudo-first-order and second-order kinetics. Each case is discussed and schematic concentration profiles given. The relationship between the cases is illustrated by a case diagram.
