Synthesis of sufactant tetracyanoanthraquinodimethanes for conducting Langmuir–Blodgett films

Abstract

The synthesis of surfactant 11,11,12,12-tetracyanoanthraquinodimethanes (TCNAQ)(2ah) with different hydrophilic groups such as amino, sulfonyl and carbonyl at the head of long-chain substituents is described. Highly homogeneous conducting Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) films with stable conductivities of 1–5 S cm–1 are obtained when using binary mixtures of surfactant TCNAQ (2c,d,f) as acceptors and surfactant tetrathiafulvalenes as donors.
