Brombyin-I [(rel)- 4β-acetyl-3-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-1,4,4aβ,5,6,7,8,8aα-octahydronaphthalen-1α-ol] and brombyin-II [(rel)-4β-acetyl-3α-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-3,4,4aβ,5,6,7,8,8aβ-octahydronaphthalene]: a novel type of natural product isolated from the stem bark of Brombya platynema. F. Muell

Abstract

Two naphthalene derivatives of a novel skeletal type have been isolated from the bark of Brombya piatynema F. Muell (Rutaceae). They ware identified by a combination of mass spectroscopy, 2-D NMR techniques, and X-ray studies, as (rel)-4β-acetyl-3-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-1,4,4aβ,5,6,7,8,8aα-octahydronaphthalen-1α-ol 1 and (rel) 4β-acetyl-3α-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl:)-3,4,4aβ,5,6,7,8,8aβ-octahydronaphthalene 2.
