A cubic equation of state for methanol and ethanol vapours
Abstract
Vapour-phase thermodynamic properties of methnol and ethanol have been fitted to a cubic equation of state with two temperature-dependent parameters. The parameter a(T) is fitted to the second virial coefficient, and the parameter c(T) is fitted to saturated vapour densities. The equation gives good values of thermodynamic properties up to 0.98Tc and at pressures up to Pc. Vapour pressures are accurate to ca. 1%, vapour densities to 2% and enthalpy increments to 1%.
