Reaction of [Ru53-CCH2)(µ3-SMe)2(µ-PPh2)2(CO)10] with [Fe2(CO)9]. Formation of a novel µ4-vinylidene ligand

Abstract

The reaction between [Ru53-CCH2)(µ3-SMe)2(µ-PPh2)2(CO)10] and [Fe2(CO)9] afforded the electron-rich mixed-metal cluster [FeRu54-CCH2)(µ3-SMe)(µ-SMe)(µ-PPh2)2(CO)13], with a symmetrical µ4-vinylidene ligand; the metal core consists of an Ru5 bow-tie, the central and two wing-tip atoms of which are attached to the Fe atom.
