Complexes with functional phosphines. Part 18. Ruthenium complexes and clusters with ketophosphine or phosphino enolate ligands

Abstract

Reaction of the ketophosphine Ph2PCH2C(O)Ph (L) with [Ru3(CO)12] in tetrahydrofuran in the presence of Me3NO affords [Ru3(CO)9L3] which reacts with I2 to give [{[graphic omitted])Ph](CO)2}2]. The iodide bridges are readily cleaved by PEt3 or L, affording the mononuclear, phosphino enolate complexes [[graphic omitted])Ph}(CO)2L′][L′= PEt3 or Ph2PCH2C(O)Ph] in which the P atoms are trans to each other. The crystal structure of [{[graphic omitted])Ph](CO)2}2] which forms slowly in CH2Cl2 solutions of [Ru3(CO)10L2] is determined.
