NMR studies of the Na+, Mg2+ and Ca2+ complexes of cyclosporin A

Abstract

The immunosuppressant cyclosporin A has been shown by NMR spectroscopy to form complexes with Na+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ in acetonitrile; Ca2+ and Mg2+ form 1 : 1 complexes and the conformation of cyclosporin A changes dramatically upon binding of the metal ions.
