Catalysis by cobalt Schiff's base complexes in highly selective conversion of arylglyoxals to α-aryl-α-hydroxyacetic esters

Abstract

Cobalt Schiff's base complexes catalyse highly selective conversion of arylglyoxals to α-aryl-α-hydroxyacetic esters in alcohols; Lewis acidity of CoIII species may be responsible for the catalysis.
