Generation of diatomic sulfur by solution thermolysis of 2,3-dithiabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene

Abstract

2,3-Dithiabicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene has been prepared at room temperature by the oxidation of cis-cyclopentene-3,5-dithiol and decomposes in solution at 130–160 °C to cyclopentadiene and diatomic sulfur, which has been intercepted.
