Abstract

The complexes cis-[MCl(CO)2(n-OPhVPy)](M = Rh, Ir; n-OPhVPy =trans-4-alkyloxy-4′-stilbazole) are mesomorphic showing nematic and smectic A phases at temperatures below 140 °C.
