Powder determination of 39K nuclear quadrupole coupling

Abstract

Direct high-field NMR spectroscopy of powder samples is employed to measure the 39K nuclear quadrupolar coupling parameters, e2qQ/h and η, in 16 common inorganic potassium salts. It is shown that high-field NMR powder spectroscopy of 39K gives clear compound characterisation and is particularly well suited as a technique for monitoring phase transitions in potassium compounds.
