The reaction of the gold(I) ylide complex [(AuPPh3)2{µ-C(PPh3)(C5H4N-2)}]ClO4 with AgNO3 yields the mixed metal complex [(AuPPh3)2{µ-C(PPh3)(C5H4N-2)}{µ-Ag(η2-O2NO)(OClO3)], the central moiety of which consists of a loose Au2Ag cluster with metal–metal contacts ca. 3 Å.
