The aromatic cation radical from bis(pentamethylphenyl)methane oxidation. Structural reassignment by X-ray crystallography

Abstract

The aromatic cation radical formed by the oxidation of bis(pentamethyl phenyl)methane has been isolated as its crystalline hexachloroantimonate, and shown by X-ray crystallography to be the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octamethylanthracene cation radical.
