Novel reactivity of thiometallates: syntheses and structures of new transition metal sulphide clusters containing WRu2S6 and Ru2S2(SR)2 cores

Abstract

Reaction of [(η5-C5Me5)RuCl2]2 with an excess of (NH4)2WS4 in THF at reflux gave [(µ2-S2){(η5-C5Me5)Ru}23-S)(µ2-S)2WS], whereas the analogous treatment of [(η5-C5Me5)RuCl(µ-SPri)2Ru(η5-C5Me5)Cl] with (NH4)2MS4(M = W, Mo) resulted in the formation of [(η5-C5Me5)Ru(µ-S2)(µ-SPri)2Ru(η5-C5Me5)].
